Two postdocs for image fusion/harmonization/gap filling towards generating generic, daily, gap free, fine resolution remote sensing dataset

We are seeking two postdoctoral fellows for developing image fusion/harmonization/gap filling system that works in anyplace, anytime by integrating cubesat constellations to polar-orbit and geostationary satellites. We want to use the produced data for monitoring photosynthesis and evaporation at unprecedented scales.

Tasks:

  • developing scalable image fusion system by integrating multiple satellite platforms

  • developing robust gap filling methods across dry to cloudy regions

  • applications to fine scale photosynthesis/evaporation monitoring

Qualifications:

  • Teamwork first spirit

  • Learning animal

  • Excellent skills in programming at least one of Python, R, MATLAB

  • Big satellite remote sensing data processing/analysis/machine learning with strong quantitative skill

  • PhD in remote sensing, statistics or related fields

  • Moderate (or better) level of English speaking/writing

  • Communication skills internally (lab) and externally (international collaborators)

Duties:

  • Writing journal papers

  • Presenting research outcomes in scientific meetings

  • Writing annual project report

  • Mentoring graduate students

Contact to Youngryel Ryu (ryuyr77@gmail.com) if you are passionate for those topics, have great ideas to understand this complex challenging task, are learning animal, and are willing to join our adventure towards the vision, “a sustainable world where ecological information is available and accessible to anyone.”  I will request a cover letter, CV, and the names and contact information of three references. The positions are available immediately and will be open until filled. The positions are supported up to five years.

Seoul National University is located in the Gwanak Mountain, southern part of the Seoul City in South Korea. Numerous mountain trails are accessible in the campus whereas “Gangnam”, the center of amusement in Seoul, is within 30 min. There are diverse groups of international students/scholars. There is a dormitory for international scholars which offers low cost, nice housing for families or singles.

If you have any questions, feel free to send emails to Dr Ryu. Welcome to visit our lab webpage to see our research and activity (http://environment.snu.ac.kr/).
